Free research tools for your thesis
Everything a quantitative thesis needs, from the sample size in your methods chapter to the tables in your results chapter. Free, no sign-up, and it runs in your browser, so your survey data never leaves your computer.
Which chapter are you on? I'll point the way.
Each tool does one job in the research process, cites the source of every threshold it applies (Hair, Henseler, Nunnally and others), and gives you output you can paste straight into your thesis: APA-style tables, a Word file and a results paragraph. The numbers are checked against R, and the comparison is public.
Design: model, questionnaire, sample size
- Statistical test chooser: answer a few questions about your variables and get the right test: t-test, ANOVA, regression, EFA or PLS-SEM.
- Research model drawer: connect your constructs, export PNG/SVG and get hypotheses H1, H2… written out.
- Thesis survey kit: pick your constructs and get a questionnaire built from validated scales, with item codes and a Word file.
- Sample size calculator: minimum sample for PLS-SEM, multiple regression (G*Power-equivalent), EFA or Cochran's formula, with a citable justification.
Analysis: clean, test, report
- Survey data cleaner: turn a Google Forms export into analysis-ready data: item codes, Likert labels to numbers, reverse-coded items, screening of careless responses.
- Descriptive statistics and sample profile: frequency table of respondents plus mean, SD, skewness and kurtosis for every item and construct, written up in APA style.
- Cronbach's alpha calculator: alpha with a 95% CI, omega and the full SPSS-style item-total table for every scale at once.
- Survey data analysis (EFA, regression): reliability, EFA with KMO and Bartlett, correlations and multiple regression from an Excel file, no SPSS needed.
- PLS-SEM online: loadings, alpha, rho_A, CR, AVE, HTMT, path coefficients, R², f², Q² and bootstrapping, matched against R seminr.
- CFA and CB-SEM online: CFA and SEM without AMOS: CFI, TLI, RMSEA, SRMR, loadings, CR, AVE, HTMT, paths and indirect effects, matched against R lavaan.
- Mediation and moderation: PROCESS-style models 4, 6, 1 and 7 with bootstrapped indirect effects and simple slopes.
- Results doctor: low alpha, failed HTMT, high VIF or rejected hypotheses: what you may legitimately do, with citations.
- Financial ratio calculator: ROA, ROE, leverage, Altman Z and Tobin's Q from financial statements.
Writing up
- Results chapter report builder: combine the sections saved by each tool into one Word file, with tables and figures renumbered and listed.
- APA 7 reference generator: paste a DOI or enter a book or thesis and get an A–Z APA 7 reference list.
